Thanks see you two sooner than later!
Fall is officially here, but some days it doesn't feel like it, huh? We've had a few coolish days, but I think by this weekend north Georgia will get a true taste of fall weather, and boy am I ready. This has been one of the hottest summers I can remember. The only other one I can recall that was this hot was in 1980. That was a gruesome summer because not only was it hot, but it was extremely dry. We went weeks and weeks with no rain. At least this summer has had some rain, but just not enough, and all those days of over 90-degree temperatures have taken a lot of the joy out of knitting and crocheting, especially larger items. For me, I don't like making large afghans in summer because they just make me feel so hot, so I stick to smaller things like scarves and hats. Maybe a baby blanket here or there.
Well, with the cooler weather on its way, we can look forward to hot chocolate, coffee, sitting in a nice comfortable chair by a fire, and working on whatever we like, from afghans to doilies. Fall is my favorite season, and I love to crochet when the weather cools off.
We have such a large and loyal group of knitters and crocheters these days meeting at Barnes & Noble. I am amazed at how our once small group has now become so large we almost fill up the whole cafe area on Tuesday nights. Even the manager acknowledges us and even mentions us on the Barnes & Noble website. They have been good about keeping the shelves stocked with wonderful knit and crochet books, so if we ever have a question about something, we have all the resources we need right at our fingertips.
I am so glad I learned to crochet 8 years ago. It has been so rewarding and I never get tired of it.
If you have never visited our group, I encourage you to give us a try. We are very friendly, and we always welcome newcomers. We'll help you get started if you're totally new, or if you just need help with something, we're always eager to help. Remember, we meet every Tuesday evening at Barnes & Noble on Caroline Street. Plenty of free parking, and come early so you can get a seat. Our usual meeting time is 7pm, although many show up earlier than that.
We love our craft, and we want you to love it, too. Come see us!
