Future-Ready: Preparing Your Content—and Your Company

with Sara Wachter-Boettcher

Doors: 6 pm | Presentation: 7pm

Mobile, cross-channel, responsive, future-friendly. The web is moving forward, but content is still holding us back. Locked into inflexible pages and documents, most content is far from ready for today's world of responsive sites, apps, APIs, and read-later services—much less for the coming one, where the web is embedded in everything from autos to appliances.

We can't create more content for all of these devices and channels. We'd go nuts trying to manage and maintain all of it. Instead, we need content that does more for us: Content that's structured and defined so it can travel and shift while keeping its meaning and message intact.

But structured content isn't just about your CMS. It affects your whole organization. In this talk, you'll learn to revisit legacy content and add the structure and metadata needed to make it more flexible. Perhaps even more important, you'll learn to use mobile as an opportunity to break down departmental walls, rethink your organization’s workflow, and become more customer-centric.

Event Details

In addition to the talk, Sara will be giving away five (5) copies of her book, Content Everywhere: Strategy and Structure for Future-Ready Content. If you'd like to purchase a copy prior to the event, you can do so by visiting Rosenfeld Media. CS-NYC members will receive a 25% discount by entering the code SWB.

Please be sure to RSVP with the full first and last name of all attendees, including guests, due to building security requirements. Attendance closes at 6:00 p.m. the day before the event.

About Sara Wachter-Boettcher

Sara Wachter-Boettcher is an independent content strategist, writer, and editor living in Lancaster, PA. She got this way after stints as a journalist, copywriter, and web writer, during which she became increasingly dissatisfied with the chaos typically found in web content projects and became determined to find a better way.

Today Sara focuses on designing systems for flexible, adaptable, future-friendly content, which she writes about in her first book, Content Everywhere from Rosenfeld Media. When she’s not consulting with clients or partnering with agencies, she's serving as editor in chief of A List Apart; contributing to publications like Contents and The Manual; and speaking about content strategy and user experience at conferences worldwide. You can read her blog at sarawb.com.

Dennis, my apologies. Any member blogging about an event, please feel free to post your URL on the relevant event page and/or tweet the URL with #csnyc. That way we are not barriers, your information is circulated faster, and I don't get your name wrong (which unfortunately happens all too often).

Just made the reservation. One of my friend might be showing up too! Getting very excited about the topic, esp. thinking about we have the power to bring up better structured contents, while better structured contents have the power to shape the future!Isn't it great to let people read great things so that potentially influence people's mind of real great stuff?
