We'd like to know just a little about who you are and what you're looking for. With that in mind, would you please tell us in one or two sentences what you do for a living?

I am a freelance writer and editor with a background in book publishing, though I have written for nonprofits, universities and I had a food column for a NYC paper. community paper. In talking to two friends who are content strategists, it occured to me that this is something I want to do. As I said in my intro, I have a good eye for design and I am a problem solver.

If it's not clear from your first answer, are you already practicing content strategy in your work?

I am not already practicing content strategy in my work.

Could you tell us what you're hoping to gain from participation in CSNYC?

I am hoping to gain more of an understanding of what content strategy is and the skills I already have that can make me an excellent content strategist as well as which skills I need to attain.

Last question. Any ideas about how you might contribute to this group and/or to the field in general?

I am an excellent writer, editor and problem solver, so I could be a wonderful addition to a web development team. I would exchange on-the-job lessons in the CMS, metadata, etc. skills I need to learn with my expertise as a writer and editor.

Introduction

I am a freelance writer and editor with over 18 years experience. I am a problem solver with a good head for design, as well, so my goal is to find out as much as I can about the content strategy field, and, hopefully, to make this transition.
