Rock Hall cruise September 21,22

This cruise requires a prepayment of $40. It is only open to paid members of CSA. Please read this entire posting before RSVP'ing

Get ready for our annual Ed Goode Memorial Cruise. CSA skippers are planning a cruise to quaint Rock Hall on the Eastern Shore on September 21 & 22. We have been there before, and it was a great hit with all the members. The skippers will stay overnight at The Rock Hall Landing Marina which has a pool and is next door to The Waterman's Restaurant, renowned for it's great food and live band on Sat. night. It is also an easy walk into town for shopping and a visit to Durding's Ice Cream store.

The skippers are attempting to arrange space at the motel to allow for additional crew who cannot stay on board, due to limited berths available for sleeping onboard the boats.

Skippers will be departing their marinas on Saturday morning and returning by Sunday evening. If you want to let skippers know of your desire to go on this cruise and are available the entire weekend, please RSVP here. Also, please email Bob B with any preference for sleeping on the boat or at the motel, by clicking on Bob B's profile and then clicking on the "e-mail" button. (do not merely comment on the MeetUp site)

In addition, you will need to pay the $40 fee when you RSVP, by going to PayPal. If it turns out that there is no space for you, your fee will be returned.

Coordination of crew and skippers will begin on September 9th, so please RSVP and pay your fee by that date. You will be notified of your status by September 13th.

This event is for paid CSA Organization members only. If you're not a current member, you can join and pay your dues by going to the "more" menu -"Files" submenue, download, complete and submit a membership form. Also, you can pay your dues by PayPal by going to the left hand column of the MeetUp site

Captain Jack made the trip an adventure for all. Jack and Jasper graciously shared their sailboat and their expertise with a couple of greenhorns (Jane and myself) and John Swivel. Great trip, great people, great destination.

Thank you Capt. Brian for two great days of sailing. Norm, your stories were great. Rock Hall is an interesting town with lots of seaside charm. Sailors don't mind a bit of spritz during social hour and the deluges held off until we were enjoying great meals at The Waterman. The motel was comfy and Claudia & Michele are good roommates. Breakfast at The Kitchen was a lot of fun as we all squeezed in at two tiny sidewalk tables. Bob, thank you for all the work you did to put this weekend together! . My recommendation--don't miss the fun next year!

Fantastic cruise! We had at least 20 kt winds from the South so Whisper was able to sail somewhere between a close and beam reach from Rock Creek (Pasadena) to Rock Hall on a single tack. She hit 6.8 kts on the GPS at several points. We were all pleasantly surprised since Whisper is designed for a max hull speed of 6.5! All boats made it there safely, and before the torrential rains that arrived later and continued throughout the night. Some of us who arrived early were able to take a scenic bike tour of the village of Gratitude and the Rock Hall town area. A great time was had by all at the Happy Hour and Dinner at Waterman’s. Overall, another fantastic cruise to Rock Hall. A big “Thanks” goes to Bob B for organizing the cruise and to all the Skippers for participating and the crew for helping sail the boats!

Excellent and quite an adventure because of the advancing cold front that brought hugh winds and waves.

Belated congratulations, Celine. What a magical time of love, laughter, and seeing the world through their eyes for you. Enjoy! Hope you have. Lots of pix to show us : )

Congratulations, Celine. Regarding your question about the membership dues, the annual dues covers from May 1st through April 30th of the following year. So not to worry ... you are good through April 30, 2014. We have a Wine & Cheese in the Spring of each year when most renewing members pay their annual dues. So enjoy the rest of the Summer/Fall sailing and our social and learning events during the winter. For further details about the club, check out the FAQ's under the "Pages" menu at the top of the Meetup webpage.

Cathy, the fee is to help to cover the cost of staying overnight. It does not include the suggested dinner. Marinas are expensive, and the fee covers only part of the overnight expenses. CSA offers a benefit to its members by subsidizing part of the cost to keep the fee reasonable.

The cost is the same, no matter where you stay overnight
