I sail "Wind Orchid," a Catalina 350 out of Paradise Marina in Deale, Maryland. If you would like to sail with us, let me know by the ?Respond By? date for that particular outing. Sailing experience is not required. Just looking for friendly people that want to sail.
Here is how it works: You let me know by the ?Respond By? date if you want to sail on any of the dates offered below. I collect the names of those interested. On or shortly after the respond by date, I?ll announce the manifest (i.e. the list of those selected to go). If you make the manifest, I will send you a sailing instruction for the outing.
We have started the Wednesday night Herrington Harbor Race Series. We cast of at 6 PM and are back to the dock before 10 PM. For the series so far, we are in fifth place. Am looking for three deck crew and one tactition/navigator for the races. Again, no experience is required to sign on for this. Last Wednesday, we did well considering the light winds, but the race was called since no one finished in time.
Had a great time this weekend sailing over to Tilghman?s for the seafood fest, but it was seriously hot. Fortunately, the winds were higher than forecast and we managed to sail quite a bit. We did, however, had a no show for the weekend. Not sure what happened to her, but wish I?d known so we could have replaced her with someone else that wanted to go.
Will be conducted an American Sailing Association Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101) class from on the weekend of 24-25 July. Am planning on doing a combination ASA 101 / ASA 103 class from Aug 20-22. Costs for these courses is $200 plus $39 for ASA membership (if required) and around $20 for the course book. I can only accept six students and I can only accept two for sleeping aboard. Currently, Bob Rossi, Cheryl, and Pam are signed on for the July class. Only three slots remain so hurry in your confirmation to secure your berth for this training.

August 5-8, Governor?s Cup Regatta. This is an overnight race from Annapolis to St. Mary?s. We will deliver the boat from Deale to Annapolis on the 5th. We?ll hang out in Annapolis the day of the 6th and start the race at 1830 that evening. I expect that we will arrive in St. Mary?s between 0630 and 1530 on Saturday the 7th. There are events all day and into the evening on Saturday (provided we get there in time!). On Sunday the 8th, we will return to Deale. Expect the return passage will take about seven hours, so plan on getting off the boat just before dark on Sunday. The race should last no more than 21 hours (otherwise we will be scored as ?Did Not Finish?). Also, understand that we are going to be in very cramped quarters for the race. I?d like to have a crew of seven which means we?ll be hot-bunking while underway and sleeping on every available berth while at anchor. More information can be found at https://www.smcm.edu/govcup/index.html
. You may still submit your name for the stand-by list.
