The R Programming Language

From Wikipedia, R is a free software programming language and a software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The R language is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software and data analysis. Polls and surveys of data miners are showing R's popularity has increased substantially in recent years.

In the upcoming Tech Talk, I’ll go over basic R programming with some examples.  Specifically, I will cover performance metrics code that I developed while at Oracle Corporation in order to determine with some statistical certainty that a code change in Weblogic JMS had a positive impact on performance.  I will discuss how to embed R code within Bash, Perl or Python scripts.

Basic Shell Scripting

Brian will discuss basic shell scripting using bash to help facilitate understanding of the main topic of the R programming language.
