As a 6 years organization the css meetup has its own evolvement, no matter if it fits everybody or not now, it is still a platform with abundant resource which I believe will be beneficial to everybody.
After reading all the replies and sort everything out I have the following proposals for our CSS meetup:
1. Topics: Focus on HTML/CSS or related topics.
Including HTML, HTML5, CSS,CSS3, Bootstrap, Sass, Less etc.
- As Ingrid [ [address removed] ] mentioned here there are a couple of other social media group in meetup
meetup set up there.
We need to focus on our keyword "CSS" here.
2. Meetup format. - Regularly based on Webinar and meeting once a while for special event.
Thanks John [[address removed]] for bringing out the wonderful idea of webinar. I'm big fan of it. I think it has many advantages comparing to the traditional meeting:
- no location cost/organization chores
- flexible time for everybody.
I will open another thread talking about details of the webinar.
Once a while we will hold meeting in case we have a really hot topic or presenter.
As the replies mentioned, organizing the meetup is not a easy work. As a new organizer, the following is my thought:
i. I encourage everybody to be involved in the organization work. The more involved
the easier everybody feel. This is a group for everybody not just for organizer.
ii. I encourage everybody to input. You are very welcome to bring any of your suggestions
feedback. All of these will become a positive energy to make this group better.
However not everybody's advice will be adopted, we just hope we are always on the right
track and loyal to our original goal.
Trying not spam everybody I will set up a organizers group email. Even if you don't think you have time to do anything, as long as you are interested in our group business, I would still like to include you in this organizers group email.
