There are a lot of roots, around the lake is flat. If you do the second half with me you definitely need hiking shoes its a steep climb and a workout!

Hi all. Looks like it's going to be somewhat cold Sunday. If you're unsure I recommend bringing footwear with you and listen to your feet. Cold soles are more sensitive to sharp debris and stones on the trail. Everyone has a different threshold but when it gets uncomfortable the fun is over. Better to have a nice hike with our group without worrying about toes falling off, lol. I've logged a lot of miles in even colder weather but it's not for everyone. I got in some near trouble too, as did Larry.

Hey everybody. I know I sound like a broken record but Vibramfivefingers.com has a huge sale on selected styles. This is the perfect time to try them weather wise. I honestly believe that you don't know what your missing. They'
    ve changed my life. Cheers

There's a decent size parking lot (20 cars) and people park on the grass too.

      November 20, 2012

    • Joanne

Larry- If you exit either 91 or 15 northbound at the East Main Street exit in Meriden you are also at the Bee Street intersection. Go straight across East Main and follow Bee Street to its end. At this point it intersects with Westfield St where that road curves around the golf course (Hunters Golf Course) property. So essentially, you are still driving straight ahead. Entrance to the park is mere feet away after a stone wall on the left. You'll see the sign for the park. Follow the road up the hill to the parking lot. If you miss that turn there is another entrance farther (but too much farther up the road) also on the left at another sharp curve. Be careful turning in there though.

Its on guys & girls, as requested This Next Sun at two o'clock Giuffrida park. My Poochi will be attending, its her back yard, she'd be pissed if I came home smelling like Giuffrida w/o her lol! Its saying partly cloudy high of 40 and only 10% chance of rain so dress warm, the pond it beautiful and easy we can climb the mountain for an amazing view and a good work out. Will do the pond and those that wish more of a challenge & reward can go to the top after!

Hello to Glenn and fellow members, Glenn- Are you going to officially post this hike? Sunday the 25th is still a good day for me. I probably will be wearing shoes though- it's a little too chilly for me. But who knows?- when I get there I may change my mind. The pine forest along the edge of Crescent Lake may provide an opportunity for some barefoot walking in the soft needles and moss. Looking forward to your response...
