Tonight we will kick off the evening with a full talk by Matt Rogish on "PhoneGap, Cross Platform, and you". We'll then have two lightening talks. One will be by Jonathan Taqqu on "Identity in Mobile" and the other will be by John Oliva on "Titanium, bringing native user experience and cross-platform efficiency".
PhoneGap, Cross Platform, and You
PhoneGap is an open source framework for building cross-platform mobile applications with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This is an ideal solution for web developers interested in mobile development as it allows them to leverage existing skills rather than start from scratch with a device-specific compiled language; it also works well if you want an application to run on multiple devices with the same code base.
In this talk, Matt will discuss the pros and cons of PhoneGap, give a brief survey of other cross-platform mobile application frameworks, and an overview to the PhoneGap architecture/ecosystem.
Matt Rogish, CTO FundingGates
Identity in mobile
Establishing a persistent identifier between mobile web and mobile apps is far more complicated than establishing identity on the desktop web. In addition, understanding how multiple devices (e.g, phone, tablet, desktop) connect to a single user is a major area of interest of many. Learn about these issues in more detail and about the various approaches that a new cottage industry has begun to build in the absence of more robust solutions.
Jonathan Taqqu is the Director of Product Management at Intent Media, an advertising technology company in Soho. He also serves as Intent Media's Privacy Czar. He has a background in many aspects of marketing technology, including display ads, search advertising, web analytics, database marketing, marketing automation, and site optimization.
Titanium, bringing native user experience and cross-platform efficiency
Titanium is an open source technology for building cross-platform mobile applications that are easily integrated with cloud services. This talk will give an overview of the Titanium technology, value proposition, and ecosystem supporting Titanium developers and organizations.
John Oliva is the organizer for the NYC Titanium User’s Group (http://bit.ly/nyc_titanium). John is currently a Lead Engineer in the Government Communication Laboratory of LGS Innovations. He has over 25 years of R&D experience with a focus on application and systems software, embedded firmware and signal processing. His current interests are in scalable real-time web applications accessible through engaging mobile applications and Web APIs.
Great topic, great speakers and substantive presentations. My only suggestion would be that given the time it may have been better to have three presenters and more time to the presentations/q&a rather than four and a hurried format that did not allow for brief but good q&a.

This article gives a good comparison of PhoneGap and Titanium, although a little out of date: http://bit.ly/phonegap_vs_titan...![]()

Hi everyone,
Speaking off compressing Ember.js and Angular.js (which we can use under PhoneGap) I found interesting test case
http://jsperf.com/angular-vs-kn...![]()
It's just "for" loop with view update.
The latest test revision (104) has been edited by me and I also added latest versions for frameworks.
p.s. you can even make your own revision of the test with multiple tests. So feel free make your own tests and please post a link if you do so.
Thanks!

First time attending CTO meetup. Good forum . I'm rolling out a healthcare mobile platform in the next few months. Lots of insights.
Well worth it.

Great lecture. A client brought up PhoneGap a while back and i have not had time to ask around about it until now. Good to hear about Ember et al smoothing out the sharp edges. Mark, http://Ameres.Net![]()

Is the format for this just a mixer, or will there be any speakers/lightning talks?
