Introduction

I'm a tech director at a San Francisco based design firm (Hot Studio) here in our NYC office. I find, sell, scope, and run technology efforts for companies ranging from tiny startups to huge enterprise clients.

What languages/frameworks do you use (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)?

Javascript, PHP

What topics might you be interested in?

Convincing enterprise to go with modern architecture, setting teams up for success, mentoring developers, organizing and ensuring effective stakeholder governance of ongoing projects,

Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?

Often my roles is as a technology consultant in heavily tech oriented design projects. Dealing with the tension between innovation and the possible is challenging in both enterprise and lean startups, I find myself doing it a lot.

What is your favorite unit test framework and why?

I've been liking Jasmine for js testing as long as the developer is taking a TDD approach. When combined with JSTestDriver for multiple browser test runs, jasmine jquery and jasmine adaptor, you can get great real browser test coverage of behavior driven js code. Add in some DOM fixtures and say goodbye to regressions (well, some anyway...)!

What is your favorite version control system and why?

git, cause git checkout damn-that-was-fast
