Introduction

Worked in LA for the video game company THQ, in Seattle for Microsoft Game Studios, and NY for McKinsey, and am now at Pivotal embracing the ruby revolution.

What languages/frameworks do you use (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)?

Ruby on Rails, Javascript, Coffeescript, pg, Mongo, NodeJS

What topics might you be interested in?

Client-side javascript frameworks. How to do high level technology management of a small business or corporation.

Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?

Pair Programming TDD in Ruby on Rails, after having been a Silverlight/WPF/C++ developer. Experience with strongly typed languages and dynamic languages, pure SQL and ORM technology like Linq2Entities and Rails ActiveRecord, give me a breadth of knowledge that I hope will be valuable when evaluating current and future technology for a particular problem.

What is your favorite unit test framework and why?

rspec, capybara, and selenium combination: has a fantastic balance of programmer efficiency and readability while still being extremely ideal for TDD and pair programming.

What is your favorite version control system and why?

git is nothing short of revolutionary in the VCS domain. Sure, it might not have been the first to introduce the concept of a distributed version control system, but it certainly made it popular, and it is now a fundamental tool when deploying to the cloud. The distributed nature of it has allowed grass roots innovation in the open source community to take off, with github at the forefront.
