Introduction

Hi, I'm the CTO of a quiet startup in midtown. Looking forward to meeting the community.

What languages/frameworks do you use (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)?

Ruby Machine learning tools R

What topics might you be interested in?

Remote team management and tools A/B testing techniques Modeling in NoSQL

Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?

I'm a *very* long-time web developer with a bunch of different technologies but some people still think of me as a data warehouse guy from my stint in that world. Plus I usually draw the short straw to manage the servers. I can share a lot of war stories.

What is your favorite unit test framework and why?

Rspec since I want to describe the behavior of my apps

What is your favorite version control system and why?

Git -- distributed teams need a distributed tool. Plus cheap branches make it easy to spin off and try new things without a lot of worry

  • Hey, John. I was reading over the letter from FCFC where they're talking about board candidates and when I got to you, I thought, "This guy sounds familiar. How do I know him?" Google made the ShRUG connection for me. :-)
