Tell us about yourself (professionally). What technical leadership experience do you have already?

Currently a software engineer at an early stage startup setting the stage for a positive and productive devops culture. Previously I was a VP of engineering at Novus and let 2 small teams at previous startups before that.

What languages/frameworks do you program in (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)? What is your favorite, if different?

Scala, Groovy, Java, Haskell. Focus currently is Groovy but I have a strong bias to typed, functional languages (for sanity's sake).

What topics might you be interested in?

Leadership - specifically tools to aid in fostering autonomy without sacrificing collaboration and eschewing negative team behavior.

Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?

Architecture, distributed systems, functional programming, positive culture nurturing. Reluctant to share; I'm here to learn first.

What is your favorite version control system and why?

Git because it's distributed and I am comfortable enough with its quirks. Currently using Mercurial so we'll see in a month or so if my preference shifts.
