Introduction
Techie and data junkie, just switched from a web development company to a leadership role in an early stage devops solutions one :)
What languages/frameworks do you use (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)?
PHP, Python, javascript, smatterings of others. Our architecture is currently in .NET so more of that going forward
What topics might you be interested in?
Cloud environments, big data, devops angst
Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?
Mmmm.. data collection techniques for useful analytics later on, maybe. It's amazing how many developers throw away their best data because they never think about what they questions they might want to answer.
What is your favorite unit test framework and why?
Personally I think unit tests are a bit overrated, so I really don't have a particular "favorite" per say. Just last month we found a bug in our code base that no one had noticed before because the unit tests always passed. I've been able to kick up huge vulnerabilities just by running inputs that the unit tests never considered. So while in general unit testing == good, I don't like such a heavy reliance on them.
What is your favorite version control system and why?
Git :) Because SVN is the work of the devil.
