I help early-stage startups get their development act together. I also engage with established companies to help them gather insights from their data, and tune their site search/recommendation features.
Java, PHP, a bit of Ruby, Python and Cocoa/Obj-C.
Technology selection. Effective hiring. Estimation. What to outsource? How to work effectively with offshore teams? Etc/etc...
How to structure your data to achieve the desired results: (e.g. KV, Relational, Search Index, Graph, Triples -- and tools to make scaling simpler) (and the inverse: I have this data set / search tool / graph db, etc... what cool new features does it allow me to easily develop?)
Whatever is easiest to setup, integrate with IDE and build process. E.g.: JUnit, PHPUnit, SenTestingKit
git b/c it's really designed for loosely coupled teams, (unfortunately I'm still using it like svn)
