I help early-stage startups get their development act together.
I also engage with established companies to help them gather insights from their data, and tune their site search/recommendatio
n features.
What languages/frameworks do you use (Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.)?
Java, PHP, a bit of Ruby, Python and Cocoa/Obj-C.
What topics might you be interested in?
Technology selection. Effective hiring. Estimation. What to outsource? How to work effectively with offshore teams? Etc/etc...
Do you have any specific areas of expertise? Would you be willing to share it with the group?
How to structure your data to achieve the desired results: (e.g. KV, Relational, Search Index, Graph, Triples -- and tools to make scaling simpler) (and the inverse: I have this data set / search tool / graph db, etc... what cool new features does it allow me to easily develop?)
What is your favorite unit test framework and why?
Whatever is easiest to setup, integrate with IDE and build process. E.g.: JUnit, PHPUnit, SenTestingKit
What is your favorite version control system and why?
git b/c it's really designed for loosely coupled teams, (unfortunately I'm still using it like svn)
