Babylonia Drop Hike Second Edition

- What kind of Event is the Babylonia Drophike? -

The drophike is an event on which people come together on a station in Amsterdam, take public transport to a location on the country side close to Amsterdam.... And after that walk back to the central station. :)

Babylonia?

Speak any language you like :) Try to help people that want to practize a language.

How does the Second Drophike work?

First gettogether on the Amstel Station, Say 15 minutes later: take the subway to Gein, the number of the subway is 54. Leave the subway at the Cinema Arena stop. Take the zuidtangent bus to Oudekerk aan de Amstel. The number of this bus is 300. Inside Oudekerk aan de Amstel: try to find the Amstel, and walk back to Amstel Station following the Amstel.

Total walking distance is around 8kms. (If you know how to walk :)

Hi Rhiannon, there's noone doing city walks in Culti Group jet, so you're invite to start doing them :). More than invited! People like events like that, but I don't like the idea of people walking through town without a host or so... Please drop me a mail if you want to do one, and if not: no sweat at all. Here's the next walk: http://www.meetup.com/cultiA/events/74579582/ Noordhollands Kanaal! If the weather is nice, than the event will take place on august 5.

Yeah the mills would be a city walk rather than hike, but seems a nice idea. Also suggested to the photo group cos they might want to arrange it! My book thing also suggests one where you take the historic tram and then walk around Amsterdam Bos, so you are looking at nature but still in the city. Everything else is very much city based in my book.

The date has been set. I´m thinking about an easy way to fit in Haarlemmerweg in combination with plenty of nature.... NOT easy! Nature is an essential part of what I have in mind. Rhiannon, about your idea, its another concept. It´s a city walk. But IF you´d like to host a city walk event... Let me know! The planning can be done in the same way, only there would be a host... Maybe!

Thanks to all that came! I liked seeing the pictures. To the ones that signed up but didnt show please be more punctual next time, it makes having a good time together so much more easy :) . At Rhiannon: I like the Haarlemmerweg idea. If it´s OK with you I´ll give this idea my own twist :).

Hey Arjan ... a suggestion for another walk: I have a book of Amsterdam walks and it is suggesting a nice one either from Haarlemerweg where there are 2 mills, past Windmill de Otter (in Dutch: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Otter_(Amsterdam)) then through the Jordaan and city centre into the East and to the Brewery Windmill where we can have a nice beer (http://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/tour_en.htm) and a tour if we book in advance. Although the tour might be hard cos we don't know times
