For those who are based in locations such as Essen etc. and would like to travel directly to Gelsenkirchen there is a second meeting point at the entrance of Horst Castle Museum at 11:20 hrs.
Travel costs: You can use your Ticket2000 with no extra costs or Ticket1000 plus Zusatzticket (= EUR 6,- return) Please also check www.vrr.de.
To cover our costs for organization we ask for a small contribution of 2,50 € per person.
Horst Castle is one of the most important examples of the Dutch style of Renaissance architecture. Enjoy a Renaissance building site not only by audio guide but also in a “learning by doing” way!

After only a few minutes’ walk we will arrive at Nordsternpark, the disused Nordstern (North Star) Pit. You will find five modern bridges to connect and unify the location which is intersected by the Emscher river and the Rhine-Herne-Canal, a pyramid with a viewing platform and a vast range of leisure activities, including an underground mining gallery built to proper mining standards, the alpine climbing garden with three artificial mountain cliffs etc. etc.

Nordsternpark is the “little brother” of Zeche Zollverein Essen.
Please bring food and drinks and let’s have a picnic in the park! There is also the possibility to buy snacks or go to a restaurant.
