What: FestiMode Casablanca at Paradiso
When: July 24,[masked]:45 PM
Amsterdam is a far cry from Paris, Milan, or New York. I know, I feel your pain, we?ll never get that posh. But?
Nine days of fashion excitement lie ahead of us. The official opening of Fashion Week DOWNTOWN is taking place on Saturday 18th of July in Heineken the City. The entire city is breathing pure fashion till July 26th. More than 80 locations - e.g. , shops, galleries and clubs - participate in Fashion Week DOWNTOWN with several expositions, shows, shopping routes, launches and parties for the public. The program runs parallel to the catwalk program of the official Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW), which is only open to fashion professionals.
An extraordinary additive to the coming edition of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week: FestiMode Casablanca
, the festival for avant-garde fashion of modern Morocco is coming to Holland.
On Friday the 24th of July a special spin-off takes place of FestiMode Casablanca, with shows of the three best Moroccan designers and their newest collection, completed with end examination work of three promising talents from Holland in Amsterdam Paradiso. After the show there will be a fashion-inspired dance event with acts, DJ?s and VJ?s of Laziz.Participating designers
Last May Noureddine Amir was one of the headliners on FestiMode Casablanca and is internationally strong in rise. From his workshop in Marrakech he creates avant-garde pieces where he does not limit himself by material, form and functionality. His work is already shown in Rotterdam, Lille and London. Vogue designer Fadila ell Gadi makes modern creations, inspired on North African textile work from the 18e century and combines comfort and modern form with the detailed beauty of traditional Arab, hand-made embroidery. The work of artistic multi-talent Amine Bendricuich finds itself in the fields of street vogue, where Western and North African elements are combined. In Casablanca, Anime with his Moroccan streetfashion-style, is nearly on all authoritative events concerning vogue, lifestyle and music. Denise Esser from Amersfoort, Holland graduated this summer Cum Laude at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Amsterdam with her striking collection Transformation. Inspired on the choreographic elements of dancing, she anticipates her collection on the changing forms of the moving human body. Marit Kleijnjan has recently graduated at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. In her collection overshadowing painful memories have the upper hand to the more beautiful moments of her life, expressed in the use of delicate material, contrasted with heavy patterns and expressive, black forms. Robbert Wefers Bettink spent his youth partly in Syria and Nigeria. He graduated this year at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, specialized in Design and Styling. His collection has been inspired on the artist Joseph Beuys.

AIFW started in 2004 as an initiative to put Amsterdam on the map as a sparkling and international oriented fashion city. Twice a year Fashion Week establishes itself as the highlight of the Dutch fashion, a full schedule with catwalk shows, trade fairs, presentations, lectures and parties. The show programme is only for professionals and will take place at the Westergasterrein area. Answering the immense demand, the public programme Fashion Week DOWNTOWN consists of numerous public access catwalk shows; parties; lectures and expositions. All organized in collaboration with museums, galleries, clubs and shops.
