Esteemed culture buffs,
I am pleased to announce a grandiose cultural outing
-- no exaggeration intended -- that is now planned for Sunday
, August 23
, in Amsterdam
! Courtesy of the "Russian Speaking Professionals in the Netherlands" Meetup Group and the back-channel diplomatic efforts of yours truly, this event shall play out on a truly Russian, grand scale
, and as such include: a visit to a museum
, a picnic
in Vondelpark and, as the evening draws near, the savoring of a classical music concert
on the banks of the Prinsengracht!
And thus, without further ado, I present to you a verbatim copy of the event's nearly authentic
description, in the words of its gifted organizer, Irina Kremin:
It looks like the rain season is over and the weather is getting better. Great opportunity for a summer picnic. This is a reminder about the picnic we will have in Amsterdam on Sunday August 23.
Here is the agenda:
12.00 ? Amsterdam Photography Museum (FOAM). For all of you who did not had time to see the latest exhibitions, join us for a retrospective of:
- Amsterdam discovered by 4 New York photographers (last day of the show)
- South African photographer Guy Tillim showcases images of decaying buildings in African cities,
- Gerda Leo with binary opposition photography, often juxtaposing light and shade and using other effects.
13.30 ? we are meeting at the Filmmuseum Vondelpark for a picnic. Please bring with you small balnkets, drinks and snacks. 23 of August is the last day of the The Vondelpark Summer festival, which features free theatre, cabaret, concerts, dance and entertainment and is suitable for all ages. It is held in Amsterdam's largest green space, Vondelpark, and its open-air theatre.
16.00 ? this is the last day of The Amsterdam Canal Festival, the Grachtenfestival, which offers classical music concerts along two of the city's main canals. Nine days of indoor and outdoor performances culminate with the Prinsengracht concert, held on a floating stage in front of Hotel Pulitzer:
- 16.00 Nieuw Amsterdam Kinderkoor
- 17.00 Amsterdam Wind Orchestra
I am looking forward seeing you on August 23, you can join us at the FOAM museum or at the Picnic, or at the Canal Festival. Please note my phone number so you can find us if you are running late: +31 643 001954.
