Celebrate the season--come see the Bull Run Cloggers at the Ellipse! The Ellipse (the park located south of the White House) will be decorated for the holidays, featuring the National Christmas Tree, smaller trees from every state and territory, a Yule display, and model trains. There are live musical performances here every evening from Decmeber 6 through December 23. (http://www.nps.gov/wh...)
The Bull Run Cloggers, from Manassas, will perform on Sunday, December 14 from 6 to 6:30. (http://www.bullrunclo...)
"The Bull Run Cloggers, Inc. are a non-profit group of dancers located in Manassas, Virginia, outside of Washington, DC. The group performs over 30 shows a year at craft shows, festivals, fairs, civic functions, celebrations, and more. Although clogging was traditionally done to bluegrass music, the Bull Run Cloggers dance to modern country, Celtic, top 40, swing, and bluegrass. The group performs a variety of styles in their routines, including traditional Appalachian Clogging, modern clogging, Irish and Canadian step-dancing, and swing."
We will meet at the nearby Starbucks between 5:15 and 5:30 to socialize and buy hot drinks for the cold weather! The nearest Starbucks is located at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave (13th and Pennsylvania) near the Federal Triangle metro (orange and blue lines). Look for a meetup sign or table tent. We'll head to the Ellipse around 5:45. The show itself lasts half an hour, so we will be able to enjoy some dancing and then get out of the cold, go home, and get ready to go back to work Monday morning!
This event, like the rest of the 2008 National Christmas Tree Music Program, is free, but please consider a $1 donation to help the Culture Club cover its meetup costs. Thanks!
