Swing Dance: The Love Dogs AND Eight to the Bar (yes, you heard right)

All music, no breaks, ending in a two-band finale.

The Love Dogs
Led by the crazy and charismatic Ed Scheer, along with a red-hot horn section, barrelhouse boogie-woogie piano, stinging Fender guitar, and a swinging rhythm section, the Dogs combine elements of jump blues, New Orleans R&B and early rock ‘n’ roll into their own powerhouse sound.

Eight to the Bar
Eight to the Bar is one of the finest, most energetic bands this side of the Hudson (and one of our most popular). Drawing its musical influences from American roots music – swing, boogie woogie, rhythm & blues, soul, Motown, Eight to the Bar is known for its outstanding instrumentalists and sophisticated musical and vocal arrangements, highlighted by their double female vocals.

$20 cover charge for lessons and dance.

I was there. Recognized Ron from other meetups with this group and said hello but never met the rest of you. Never saw any meetup signs. Even so, had a great time dancing with folks I already know from the dances.

Hey, I was at my post all night. Speak to me, I'll introduce you to others. Most members were out dancing most of the evening.

I guess I got too caught up in the dance lessons, and then in trying out my new steps; I didn't find any of you meet-up folk, but I had a good time.

I truly did show up, but met none of you. As early as 8 o clock I approached several people sitting or standing in front of the meetup signs, but all of them said they'd never heard of this meetup. I did enjoy myself at the dance, and met a teacher who taught me the steps and we had a few great dances.

we were there. If you ask for me, most people there know me. I was there in my very visible garish shirt.

I checked out the bands on you tube and they are awesome, so I will probably go to the event even if I can't join the group this time.

We do sell bottled water and juice. This is a public dance, so anyone can come and bring anyone else.

I sent instructions out this afternoon. Look for us at the front right of the room, as you face the stage. Look for me, look for the meetup signs.

Say, "hi," and I'll introduce you to some of the other meetup folks.

    Dancing attracts all ages.
So, you will see people from their 20's-70's
I expect more than 300 people to attend, so there should be something for everyone.

Old Country Buffet. A favorite of my 5 male sibs.

Very excited about two great bands at once. Sad to see this dance fading away but it'll be great to dance.

I'm interested in having dinner near the Armenian Center before the dance. Anyone care to meet? Can someone suggest a restaurant? I know there are several within walking distance.

Old Country Buffet - if you favor quantity over quality, this is the place - at the WATERTOWN mall, the all-you-can-eat buffet. A favorite of teenage boys everywhere.

If you have a seat in your car, or if you need a ride, please post it here. I'll be walking over, so I have no ride to offer this time.

The bands will each play one set, and then play the third set together. It promises to be a great night, and the last one I'll be producing.

For those on the wait list, you can still attend this dance. Just go individually and get there early so you can park nearby. You will see all your Meetup friends there.

I hope to make this one! LOVE both bands - wow! Do we need to get tickets ahead of time or can we pay at the door? Also - is there parking ?

    September 21, 2013

    • Ron R.

This is a pay-at-the-door event. There is plenty of parking in the ACEC lot and on almost every street in Watertown.

      October 11, 2013

  • Liz C.

I can't wait for this one! Two great bands.
