I think France is wrong and America is right, to wear a head scarf or a Yamulke is "individually" dressing according to one's personal religious belief, unlike collective displaying religion of any denomination. A Christmas tree and a Chanukah Menorah are more symbolic than a "religious"
nativity scene, distinctions need to be drawn, it's the difference between studying religions and cultures of the world versus "prayer in school."

Just as long as 1) The display is on private property, 2) My tax money is not involved, and 3) The other guys don't complain if I put up some "provocative" display that I happen to like. As far as dress, safety issues need to be considered, you need to be able to see all around to drive a car, e.g. Otherwise I don't care if people wrap themselves in tin foil or run around naked.

I just could not make it....no electricity and no water just made it less fun to think about meeting new people. Maybe next month.....I REALLY want to come to one of these gatherings.

A very interesting and ACTIVE discussion. Just so I have things straight: We Americans are WRONG to oppose the installing of creche-sets in front of public schools; but the French are RIGHT to outlaw the wearing of head-scarves by Muslim women inside public schools. Do I have that right? Just wanted to be sure.... before I buy my one-way ticket to "France, the Land of Perfect Civilization."

Do you know what you get when you cross an atheist with some one who has Dyslexia, someone who doesn't believe in dog.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
