XAML/C# to HTML5/JS - taking your skills with you - David Hanson + Andrew Clancy

This will be an introductory session covering AngularJS and Typescript from the point of view of the WPF developer who is looking to migrate to HTML5/JS -  Dave & Andy have been mapping WPF tech to HTML5 as their UI strategy shifts to a broader reach. Several other libraries and frameworks will supplement the story of how HTML/JS development is now matching the experience that we know & love in XAML-based enterprise app dev.

Food and drink will be provided. Please RSVP before the day as it will make getting you all through the building security a ton easier.

David Hanson has been a developer for over 17 years primarily focused on building enterprise apps for clients using  Microsoft platforms.  His interest in building sophisticated web apps has been reawakened recently by the monumental rise of JavaScript and Html5 technology and the close relationship these apps have to xaml development. David is currently working freelance in the finance sector developing apps for traders and controllers.

Andrew Clancy is also developing xaml applications in finance & transitioning to html5/js. Having started out in web back in Sydney & early 2000s in London, he thought he’d never go back once finding WPF, but was encouraged when libraries such as Angular & Typescript came on the scene, and now amazed by the richness of the entire web ecosystem.

Hi Azim. My apologies - going to have to drop out. I didn't think I'd make it off the waiting list so booked something else in instead. Next time I'll have to be quicker off the mark to sign up in the first place!

Hey, apologies I asked but can't swing it :( We're really pushing the venue as it is with 40. What I will do is send out a reminder tomorrow to those on the list to make sure they're coming, a fair few people usually drop out at the last minute.

I am too a seasoned WPF developer contracting for Investment banks. My first experience with the HTML5/JS playground with Windows 8 has as a weekend project has been quite a fun ride. Made a game for windows 8 to test my learning which is now no. 20 in top free games : http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-US/app/speed-rovers/b5d98aec-820b-4f97-91fc-500d0d81fbfd . ITs a pretty lame game, but for a start, i was quite satisfied.

It reminds me of Road Rash which makes it Awesome :p

I'm getting back into gameDev myself, been learning Unity but I haven't completed anything yet. I built a prototype little endless dodge/shoot em up: http://i.imgur.com/om... Since last Thursday I've been working with an artist I met on reddit to build a top down space combat game, no pics as it looks terrible atm ^_^

Thanks Azim. Yes the tough of a graphics designer is necessary if u want any game to look playable.
