Have you wanted to learn to shoot a handgun but never had the chance? Do you own a handgun and want some practice? Come join CYP for an instructor-led afternoon at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club located on Old Lynchburg Road. This is a great opportunity to learn about the shooting sports in a safe, structured environment. Participants will learn how to safely and properly handle a handgun under the supervision of experienced instructors. There will be a safety briefing, followed by small group instruction, and then plenty of range time. People new to handguns will learn everything from the parts of a pistol and revolver, what the difference between the two are, how to load and unload, how to determine your dominant eye, and of course how to properly shoot.
Participants should bring a positive attitude towards handguns and footwear that covers the entire foot, all other required items will be provided. A brimmed hat and collared shirts are also recommended (you do not want a hot shell casing to go down your shirt).
Participants are encouraged to bring their own handgun AND ammunition if they choose to do so.
Please note: As per Federal Law, anyone who has ever been convicted of a felony may not participate in this event.
More information on the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club (including directions) can be found at: http://www.rrpc.org.... Also, feel free to contact Carlos if you have additional questions.
