ScalaZ-stream (Prague)

Dear Scala enthusiasts,

it has been a while since we met for some meaty presentation so I am glad I can invite you to our upcoming meetup.

Milan Raulím from Spinoco Czech Republic has offered to give us a talk about ScalaZ-stream - compositional, streaming IO library for Scala. His colleague Pavel Chlupáček will be there to help him answer all your questions.

So come to our meetup and enjoy some "hardcore" functional Scala.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

I've been using scala, scalaz and I have a good grasp of reactive and parallel programming hence I got all of it. But I suppose that for those less familiar with this stuff it must have been quite hard to follow.... 60 minutes might be enough for iteratees, but not for scalaz-stream with spinoco intro :-)

I've never programmed Scala, but the concept seems pretty straightforward - stream processing, program your various logic into the Wye connectors, pipe your processors together in typical Unix fashion, do less predetermination of data coming in and instead structure code to handle on the fly. Perhaps looking at a somewhat analogous system for audio streaming called gstreamer would be useful.

Thanks to the presenters for their effort, but unfortunately the presentation was quite confusing and hard to comprehend.

Hope to be there to discuss "EasyFX", a Scala wrapping of JavaFX from a Munich partner.
