We just moved here 8/2010 and I would not have moved here if I had known the landlord had cancer..  And the last place were in, we were only able to stay 3 years too!

What complicates it even more, is that I have 6 rescued dachshunds who I have grown to love.  I know a landlord will probably not let me have 6 dachshunds in order to rent so that means I have to downside the dachshunds. I'm just beside myself!

And even worse, my main source of income is the Hound Hotel, a dog boarding business.  There goes my income if I can't find a place that will allow me to dog sit.

Is it impossible for you to purchase it? There are all sorts of programs now for people who trying to get them into their own home. Even if you are lower income. 

I hope whomever buys it, if not you, will let you stay during the renovations and not jack up your rent too much. 

I still would start exploring your options. We just had to move out of the house I lived in for 10 yrs because it was being sold. It took me 1.5 months to find someplace in our price range that would accept dogs. I finally found a place in San Leandro. But there was nothing in Alameda, where I have lived for 16 yrs. :(

Now, if the house sells to a private party (not an investor who would let us continue to stay here) and we cannot find another place for the Hound Hotel, I want to make everyone aware that I will have to close down our boarding services and revert to an in-home service program where we come to you.  Boo Hoo! 

But I will keep everyone notified of our situation.  Keep your fingers crossed. O course, if you purchase or refer the property to an investor friend of yours, you would get free dog boarding whenever you need it.).... we wuv your dog(s)/and consider you and everyone as family.
