One of my doxies had back surgery done at BAVS (Bay Area Veterinary Specialists) at 14790 Washington Avenue in San Leandro. The phone number is[masked]-7387. It was very expensive but they're very good at what they do. She made a complete recovery. If your dog can't move his/her back legs at all, go to the hospital immediately. The faster the surgery is done, the better chances your pet has of a complete recovery. If you think it's just a sore back, don't let your pet run or jump (definitely no stairs) and go to a regular vet. I go to Banfield in Fremont. All three of the doctors there are really good...Dr. Alexander, Dr. Couture, and Dr. Madrazo. They'll probably need to take an x-ray and if things don't look too bad, they might prescribe a muscle relaxer. Good luck.

Hope you can offer some advise. I have an 8 year old doxie that started having some back issues today. We recently moved here from Southern California and I don’t have any resources up here for good doctors for our babies with IVD. Any help you can give for doctors, treatment, etc would be appreciated.
