The world is transitioning from lower cost 8 and 16 bit micros into 32 bit micros such as the ARM that are only slightly more expensive, yet offer not only better performance but also better design tools and faster code development for a modest increase in cost. The design trade-offs would be presented that allow picking the best products and tools.
Jan van Niekerk, Senior Partner, RF Ops LLC, BSEE, MSEE, MBA, has 30 years of experience in developing electronic communications products, and his development work is now embedded in millions of consumer products. He specializes in antenna design, battery simulation, channel/propagation estimation, digital signal processing, encryption, backscatter communications, digital communications, near-field magnetic communications, microcontroller interfacing, and firmware/software development. Jan has 5 issued and 7 pending U.S. patents. Jan has managed two successful commercial startups, as well as product development at two large US corporations. Jan is a lifelong radio amateur and a former military communications officer.
