Subject: [drupalntx] Special event for web professionals tonight

If you provide contract development services, there is a special event tonight you do not want to miss. Scores of web related services professionals are being audited and hit with huge assessments for back taxes. An unique set of rules and an exceedingly broad interpretation by the Texas comptroller is reclassifying virtually any service that involves the web or web technology as taxable.

These polices are creating a significant competitive disadvantage for Texas based consultants that will eventually harm the entire industry.

While the federal and virtually all other state governments have pushed in recent years to create policies that are very favorable to web professionals. Texas has moved in the opposite direction. They desperately need money and see designers, developers, marketers and other digital consultants as a prime source for taxation.

What is lacking in Texas is a collation to fight for our industry. We need to change that if we are to get Texas laws in line with competition in other states and off shore. We are reaching out to agency owners and other service professional to join the cause. Tonight is the first collation meeting.

If you would like to learn more about how these taxes effect you, get involved or just meet other industry professional, come on out:
