Android 101 - Part 2: Getting Started

This is part two in this series, after Android 101 - Intro and Basics. In this class we will begin creating our group application. We will walkthrough creating a new application, your first activity, fragment, layout and overall general architecture of the application. It will be primarily hands on so be prepared to start coding. Those new to Java should not be alarmed as we will be very welcoming and answer any syntactical questions that arise.

If you missed part one, you should still be able to jump in after glancing at this slideshow:

* Some programming knowledge (preferably OOP)
* Linux, Mac, or Windows computer
* ADT Bundle installed (
* Optional, Android Device (w/ USB cable) to use instead of emulator

This meetup is completely open to the public (those not members of DMS). If you come early or are willing to stay later, someone is always more than willing to give you a quick tour of the 'space.

    Javier, I did your first intro class at Makerspace. Is this the second class in that series?

      Javier, do you plan to have another session of this class? I have a conflict and wanted to check. Thanks.
