There's an old saying that there's nothing new under the sun. Frameworks are a relatively new phenomenon in the world of PHP development, but there are old standards that have been around for many years. Yii is a relative newcomer on the PHP frameworks scene, but at the same time, it's bones are road tested and battle ready. It incorporates many ideas and work from other well-known Web programming frameworks and applications, including Prado, Symfony, Joomla, Ruby on Rails and jQuery, all combined in a streamlined, strict OOP development framework aimed specifically at large scale application development.
[strong]On Tuesday March 10, Jason Ragsdale (Co-Organizer of DallasPHP, PHP Developer at YaHoo! and contributor to the development of the Prado framework) will talk the innovations and capabilities of the Yii framework.[/strong]
