Proposed Agenda for December meeting

All,

From the feedback in the November meeting and the growth of this group, it looks like we may benefit from an agenda for future meetings.

I've created a loose agenda for the meeting on December 7th. This will consist of an hour for regular meeting items, followed by an optional 30 minute meeting for anyone interested in helping to manage the new local users group.

Here is my working agenda:

* Welcome (0:20 minutes)
Introductions
Icebreaker
Goals for this meeting
* "Coding Standards“(0:30 minutes)
Presented by rustyvz
Open Discussion about topic
* Conclusion (0:10 minutes)
Select Next Topic (and presenter)
Raffle drawing for Door Prize

Optional for volunteers:
* Group Management Discussion (0:30 minutes)
Discuss group website ideas
Promoting the group
Management/Organizational structure

If you would like to get involved with coordinating meetings and helping to shape the future of this group, please plan to stay a little later on this December meeting so that we can brainstorm and delagate some responsibilities.

Thank you,
John Guerra

Those are all very useful links. I prefer coding the way the sitepoint authors have adopted as their coding standards.

Drupal's coding standards doc seems to use some popular conventions.

Although I am not picky about a standard with regard to PHP, Drupal's standard pretty much fits my own.biggrin

All,

We had a wonderful turnout to the meeting last night - including the success from both Meetup and Yahoo! Groups folks. (almost 30 people attended!) I've uploaded the presentation that we went over last night to a temporary directory:

The topic for our next meeting is PHP 5. During the next meeting we are also going to have break-out discussion groups so that members can have the opportunity to ask questions and share about a variety of topics, including MySQL, Apache, Linux, etc....

The next event will be on our regularly schedule date - second Tuesday of every month. (January 11th at 7:00pm) If it looks like we will have enough RSVPs, we will get an auditorium size room which is better able to handle the breakout groups. Please let us know if you can make it to the January
meeting:

Also... a new poll is out there... http://php.meetup.com...
