We will learn the natural rhythms of our bodies, and become connected with them, based on modern dance techniques. We will explore stretching, breathing, balancing and using rhythms for making natural movements. We will start with stretching the areas that are crucial for our daily movement, and move on to loosening up small muscles that we usually do not pay much attention to. We will learn to use breathing to generate rhythms, and to control the energy of movement in relation to the rhythms. A certain set of modern dance movements will be presented, and we will explore individual ways to execute them.
Then, we will extend these basic movements, and create movements. There will be certain rules to follow along with certain themes for inspiration, but you will do semi-improvisation. We will aim to create short pieces of collective movement work in relation to the themes. We will incorporate other artistic media, such as drawing, singing, and making sound etc., to movements.
You don't need to be good at dancing in order to participate, but we expect you to be serious about it. Be curious about yourself and also others. Most of all, find joy in sharing yourself with others through movement.
