Anyone want to tack on extra miles after? Looking to turn this into a 20-22. Will probably retrace the course some.

Joe and Tree, I'm gonna try to run the race at 8min/miles and then turn around for a few extra miles. Where is the best place to meet, back at the start?

    • Joe D.

Yeah let's meet around the starting line after the race. If I am really gonna try to go for the pacing I am hoping to do I am not sure how many more miles I will add on after the race. Hopefully some though!

FYI the ferry is spaced an hour apart on Sunday from Manhattan. I took the 6:30 am ferry last year.

They put this up on one of their FB announcements:

Runners of the Half should take the 6:30, 7, or 7:30 a.m. Staten Island Ferry (the 7 a.m. ferry is through NYRR and therefore not listed on the Ferry website schedule) in order to make it to the start on time.

I am going to pace a few people at 7:45-8:00 (1:41:32 - 1:44:49). If anyone wants to join in the fun I'll watch the clock for you and offer some encouragement along the way.

Also, anyone in Brooklyn have a good way of getting there without heading up into Manhattan to catch the ferry?

Definitely, I live below the park actually, but will be passing through Atlantic. Planning on catching the 6:30 ferry.

Is anyone shooting for 1:30 - 1:32 range?

I'm going to push a 7min pace as long as I can but my IT bands are still healing so I don't think I'll hit PR pace tomorrow (sub 7:10). I'm taking the 7:30am ferry but still have to pick up my bib so I'll probably just make it to the start. If you're around the registration area, look for me around 8a and I'll keep an eye for you guys. Cheers, Jason

As a note to everyone doing this race who is also doing NYC Marathon. Race this race!! The psychological gains of running your best race on Sunday, even if that means you are too tired to run 6 extra miles afterward, is greater than the physiological gain you will get from running those extra miles. Training schedules are guides for roughly how much mileage you should be doing not prescriptions of exact amounts. Remember that always.

I think this race starts at 8:30AM this year.
