Manhattan Weekend Run-NYFlyers Boston Tribute Run

We will gather with the NY Flyers at the Maine Monument at Columbus Circle at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th. Once we gather, a few words will be said and, by 8:15 a.m., we will be off to loop Central Park's bridal path one time at a leisurely pace. You can do the whole loop or any part of it. You can run, you can walk.

This is an easy run, so people might want to use it as a warm-up.

I'm out of the country so can't attend, but am thinking of you all, and so glad no whippets were personally caught up last week.

Wish I could join in on this! Will sadly be out of town. Enjoy the run, such a good idea.

I guess the pace doesn't really matter

Also, under the circumstances, is this an open run?

    Wasn't this originally at 9:30?

Yup, looks like the captains switched it up a bit for this week so we can make it to the Boston Tribute run as well.

Is anyone interested in getting to the park early to do a bridle path run with the Flyers for Boston? Someone posted about it on fb and it would be nice to do it as a team unless we have something else planned...

I'm in - recovering from an injured SI joint/ hamstring anyway so an easy bridle path loop sounds like a good plan.

Weekend runs are always defined by the run leaders and the distance may vary according to their plans. That said, here are some recommended workouts for the weekend of April 20-21...

NEW JERSEY marathoners: 18M at 5% slower than marathon pace
BROOKLYN HALF competitors: 14-17M at long run pace
IF BUILDING A BASE: 7-9M @ easy or long run pace
BOSTON runners: No miles at all, or at most 6-8 easy

Long run pace is slightly faster than easy, but is still 45-60 seconds/mile slower than marathon goal pace (or your estimated goal pace if you were training for a marathon). 5% slower than marathon pace is just what it sounds like: 18-30 seconds per mile slower than marathon goal pace.
