Prospect Park Training Run

For you Brooklynites and those that want a change of scenery for their runs, we are doing Prospect Park runs for the new year on Sunday mornings. We'll meet at Grand Army Plaza and do loops of the park -- one loop of Park Drive is 3.35 mi. There are also a bunch of trails to run on in case we want to mix things up.

Here are details about running in Prospect Park:

2 friends coming tomorrow! One friend is 9-10 minutes per mile, and her husband is maybe faster but not sure. He is training for a tri!

Hey guys, I just joined this group and giving it a trial run (no pun intended ;)) My pace is maybe 12-14 minutes a mile. I'm wondering if I would be too slow for this run that's happening tomorrow? Any tips on where to get started on dashing whippets? Thanks :)

Running 13-15 at whatever pace feels good.

Weekend runs are always defined by the run leaders and the distance may vary according to their plans. That said, here are some recommended workouts for the weekend of April 20-21...

NEW JERSEY marathoners: 18M at 5% slower than marathon pace
BROOKLYN HALF competitors: 14-17M at long run pace
IF BUILDING A BASE: 7-9M @ easy or long run pace
BOSTON runners: No miles at all, or at most 6-8 easy

Long run pace is slightly faster than easy, but is still 45-60 seconds/mile slower than marathon goal pace (or your estimated goal pace if you were training for a marathon). 5% slower than marathon pace is just what it sounds like: 18-30 seconds per mile slower than marathon goal pace.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
