Brooklyn Weekend Run

We are now doing our Brooklyn runs on Saturdays.  We'll try to mix up the routes as much as possible so we don't get too bored doing lops of Prospect Park.  This will mainly serve as an opportunity for a long run.  If you have any ideas for courses, please let us know!

I can do the mapping this weekend- any requests? I'll try and minimize the stoplights we hit to keep things moving.

Maybe space out the bridges a bit like last week? Back to back kills my foot...

    Anyone going 7:00-7:15 pace?

    • Matthew

I'll probably be closer to 7:20 if you don't mind that.

Weekend run routes are always defined by the run leaders and the distance may vary according to their plans. That said, here are some recommended workouts for the weekend of February 1-2...

SPRING MARATHONERS: 14-16M at 5% slower than marathon pace

NYC HALF COMPETITORS:[masked] minutes at progression run pace

WINTER 5K/10K COMPETITORS: Run a race this weekend at a distance between 5K and 5M, and add 20 minute warmup, 20 minute cooldown

IF BUILDING A BASE: 60-80 minutes at easy or long run pace

Long run pace is slightly faster than easy, but is still 45-60 seconds/mile slower than marathon goal pace (or your estimated goal pace if you were training for a marathon). Progression run pace starts at long run pace for the first half -- but the second half gradually accelerates to current half marathon pace (or marathon pace if you are a marathoner) -- making sure that the last 10 minutes are at an easy pace.
