Where are we meeting before the race to warm up? I will run 2:01-2:04. That's 9:15-9:30 pace if anyone wants to join me. I am good pacer.

This will be my first half as a Whippet. Is there somewhere I can buy a team shirt to wear tomorrow?

Yay, so many Whippets running. However, we really need a cheer station. Same spot as last year? New spot? Simon, Scott?

Howdy, Whippets- I've got a marathon the following weekend (May 25) so I'm thinking I'm not going to run this at full tilt. If I don't, I thought I'd try an experiment. That is, running the Brooklyn Half at BQ marathon pace. For an older fella like me, that would be around 7:45/mile (1:41 goal time). Just want to see how the body feels half-way through a BQ effort. Of course, this may not be very instructional as the trouble spot for me on long runs is about mile 19. Everything falls apart at the 3hr mark. On the other hand, the Brooklyn-Half I usually perform pretty well (for me, that is), so should I just try for a PR? Hmmm. Maybe I should just shut up make a game day decision.

You should run a little slower in PP and then as soon as you leave the park aim to hold BQ pace really steady all the way home. That would be a better training run for a week before.

This was going to be my first race as a whippet but I have to drop out as well. Little cousin graduating college that day. Silver lining... I get to visit Iowa? What is in Iowa?

    March 18, 2014

    • Wilson

Be careful running in Iowa. Although encountering a bear could help you run faster, not keeping the pace could knock you out for six weeks.

You can see few Amish people on buggies on the road in Iowa

D'oh, have to be away for work! No Brooklyn Half for me...was so looking forward to a new PR! :-(

    March 18, 2014

    • Wilson

Sorry to hear that Ab, but there's always a silver lining if you look hard enough. Yoohoo! I just moved up one bposition. If 93 more whippets drop out, I can be first!!
