Global Hackathon for Social Good

Geeklist is launching a global hackathon for social good, and there will a branch right here is San Diego this week-end.

This FREE event will begin Friday June 28 at 6:00PM with beer, wine, soda, pizza, etc and last until noon Sunday. See below for important information about the locations and times - Downtown Friday and Sunday, Ansir on Saturday.

We’re gathering mobile developers, app designers and back-end engineers to create apps, make non-profit sites much more useful on mobile, and build solutions that make the world a better place. There will be $1,000’s in cash prizes, give-aways, gift cards and more. The prizes will be local and with a global winner.

What is ‘Hack for Good’? Well it means everything built needs to be done to better humanity, support a non-profit/cause or leverage one of our sponsors (or our) API’s to do something to make peoples lives better.

Themes will include hacking to help:
Disaster and Emergency solutions - Education and Learning - Workplace and Jobs - Poverty and Hunger

Would you like to hack with other developers around the globe? Do you like free food and geek swag? Do you fancy yourself developing for mobile? Are you a decent human being? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions then we got an event for you!

So downtown today, and Ansir tomorrow/Sunday? Should probably change the location in the event for today, or people would be heading to Ansir...I know I would have if I hadn't seen this message.

We'll be at Village 631 downtown today Friday, Ansir on Saturday, then Village 631 downtown for prizes and celebration at noon Sunday.

This is a bit frustrating for me. I was just downtown sitting at Village 631 working on a related project, and I left to come to this at the Ansir location..... If you had sent out the message 45 minutes earlier, that would have been helpful.

Always bring a computer. You may feel naked without.

Look forward to this! It'll be my first meetup with this group. Just wondering, are we also meeting on Saturday and Sunday at Ansir? Do we need to bring our computers on Friday?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
