Come out with us for a day hike in the wine country!
The Bull Run Mountains are the most easterly chain in the Piedmont, and they protect the headwaters of two major watersheds: Occoquan and Goose Creek. Seven perennial streams originate in the mountains. Approximately 45 miles from Washington, D.C., the mountains are part of an important greenbelt around the nation's capital and are vital because of their proximity to ever-increasing population and development.
We will carpool from Centreville park and ride to the winery, as our hike begins and ends there. This hike begins on a normal Virginia country road, and will take us through one or more loops to our summit on Bull Run. And if you forget your cheese, you can always just hang out at the winery till we get back!
Even if you have no interest in wines, come along get outdoors and cheer on the wino's of the group, its sure to be a good time!
We expect to be back in Centreville shortly after dark.
I will send an update on the weather conditions shortly before the event, but its always best to come prepared for any weather that presents itself!
In case you need a ride or can offer one, let people know in the comments section.
Dogs are welcome on the trip. It is the responsibility of the owner that the dog is trail experienced and well socialized with other dogs.
