AT Backpacking 20 Miles 4,200 ft elevation / Snicker's Gap - Harper's Ferry

This will be a moderate / strenuous backpacking trip along the AT from Snicker's Gap to one of my favorite trail towns, Harper's Ferry, WV.  We will meet up at 8:00 AM in Bearden Park and hit the trailhead at Snicker's gap.

The mileage will be an even split between Saturday and Sunday.

We will do 10 miles on Saturday, and stay at the David Lesser memorial shelter.  The shelter sleeps 6, so plan on sleeping in a tent either way just in case the shelter is full.

Sunday we will do another 10 miles into Harper's Ferry and enjoy a post-hike meal before shuttling back to Snicker's Gap.   The bulk of the elevation gain we will experience will be on Saturday, so Sunday's hike will be a bit easier.

We will need to have a car (or two depending on how many attendees) ready near Harper's Ferry to shuttle people and bags back to Snicker's Gap, so if you are able and willing to get to Harper's Ferry a bit early we can figure that out this week.  Please post in the comments to coordinate carpools and shuttle cars.  Thanks.

Thanks for hosting Brandon! My 20 deg bag was a hit. Pad + air pad kept me off the floor and warm as well. I was surprised you had the same set up. Shedding more weight/space next trip.

Hua and Vince, it was awesome hiking with you guys! Hua you really know how to keep a fire going! Vince, it was nice seeing you out on the trail, you are definitely doing way better now that your pack actually fits. We kept a pretty fast pace to keep warm, but you guys hung in there. I'd hike with either of you again any time!

Hey guys, it looks like we will be able to fit everyone into a single car. I can park at Harper's Ferry, but will need someone to meet me a bit early there to give me a ride back down to the trailhead at Snicker's gap.

The weather looks like it will be pretty good. No precipitation is in the forecast, but still plan for the possibility of rain. It looks like 28 will be the low at night, so you guys should have 20 degree bags at a minimum.
