Asynchronous Grails

Next in our Grails series, we will look at a more advanced topic that is becoming essential in distributed enterprise applications. We are excited to have Grails consultant and speaker, Colin Harrington, coming to DC to give his latest talk, Asynchronous Grails.

This talk will cover techniques for providing resources that are not constrained to the typical request/response boundaries. Colin will show how to use the Servlet 3.0 async support in Grails, message queues, and application events to a provide seamless application experience. He will also go over server push technologies, ajax long-polling, and WebSockets.

Colin Harrington (@ColinHarrington) is a Senior Consultant at Object Partners, Inc with over 4 years of Grails experience. Based in Minnesota, Colin has 10+ years of experience developing web-based applications. Colin is an active member of the Groovy and Grails community and an active speaker at user groups, events, and conferences such as SpringOne 2GX, GR8Conf US, and minnebar.

Excella Consulting will be sponsoring the meeting and hosting us in their excellent conference space on the ground floor of the Navy League building in Courthouse.

As a heads up, we have someone recording tonight's presentation and we will need to start as close to 7 as we can. Please try to arrive a few minutes early, if possible.
