MathsJam DC

We had a few months off but it's time to get back to the fun of MathsJam. This month I will be bringing along a few examples of my latest obsession, the slide rule. If you are interested, I'll share how to use this low-tech computing device to perform all number of calculations, interested in the 4.2th root of 5.61? Easy peasy.

In the past, I have provided the problems and puzzles to work on but this month, I'm asking you to bring your favorites to the table. Just like a music jam, MathsJam is more fun when everyone contributes.

So don't forget to bring some paper and pencil as well as any other math curiosity you like (games, cards, non-Euclidean crochet work, etc). If you are unfamiliar with this monthly worldwide event, check out http://mathsjam.com. Or check out the live Tweets from previous events at @mathsjam.

Smart, interesting, and diverse group of geekenfolk; an even number of very odd people. :-) I love it!

      (8 C 2)(8 C 2) = 24 * 24 = 576?

16 people RSVP'd so far, WOW! We might be a little squeezed for space but I'm sure we'll manage.... It would be a great packing problem :) I'm not sure if we'll be on the 2nd or 3rd floor (keep in mind you enter via the stairs from outside to the 1st floor). They will have signs directing you to what floor but just keep a lookout as you make you way up.

Don't forget to follow us on twitter too @mathsjam for any updates.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
