Announcing a new Meetup for Washington Math Meetup Group! What
: August Math MeetupWhen
: Saturday, August 14,[masked]:00 AMWhere
: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
We'll keep the same format as last time; I will bring some problems to the table that are solvable by high school students but still interesting enough for more advanced types.
As always, come with ideas or problems of your own (or presentations you want to share).
I imagine that the August meetup problems will require knowledge of some linear algebra, high school algebra/trigonometry/geometry, calculus of a single variable (some integration and differentiation)...nothing too advanced and no number theory or modern algebra in the August meetup.
I also want to share some more advanced topics for discussion (rather than for solving) such as group theory, ideals, rings, etc to set the stage for a possible problem for the September meetup.
Well, I hope to see some of you on August 14.
