We haven't had any math meetups since May. This is deliberate on my part, because the summer months are busy with outdoor activities, travel, etc.
In the fall we'll get things going again. I already have some events scheduled:
* Two MAA lectures, on "Game Theory and the Humanities" and "The Magic and Math of Mental Calculation".
* A book club in late November, reading Charles Seife's "Proofiness: How You're Being Fooled by the Numbers".
* The October 1st event for the DC Python meetup is on data analysis and modeling using the packages pandas and scikit-learn, so I'll add it to our calendar with a limited number of attendees.
We still need to find a good venue for lectures by members of the meetup. If your workplace has a meeting room, please consider whether you could host a meeting in the evening. Or if you're a staff member or student at a school, would it be possible to reserve a lecture room?
