Hello DC Media Makers!
Thanks for a wonderful, educational time at January's meetup (please find more bits on that below). And...
Please Save The Date: Wed, 2/24/10
The wave of effectiveness recently with CrisisCampHaiti - #ccHaiti on Twitter - is fascinating. From using technology in critical ways - to mobilizing a community of volunteers/programmers to put the tech in action - it's something we'd like to look at more closely together.
What you need for this meetup:
Do I have to be uber tech savvy to join in the meetup's conversation?
Not at all. And if you'd rather observe vs directly engage, that's absolutely fine. The conversational goal here is realizing what worked with this multi-state, grass roots effort with CrisisCamps and community involvement. It's incredible and know you're welcome to join us.
Will chocolate snacks be involved?
Sure will.
Quick word and recap on our last meetup in January:
What an energizing way to launch 2010 for we media makers! Last week's meetup was fantastic and your enthusiastic interaction made it that way. Thanks Jen and everyone for coming out.

This was a great meetup and I promised Jill a post. I did one on Social Media for Social good, which then prompted me to start a whole social media blog. Now, I'm going to follow thru on my promise by completing a second post specifically about Crisis camps and what I learned at this event. Ironically, the next Crisis camp took place the day of the Chile earthquake. What had been put in place for Haiti could be built upon. Good work all.

My brain is still swirling from all the ideas and energetic mojo from last night's meetup.
It was motivating to learn the process / results about Crisis Camp-Haiti plus videoblogging per 'Why Tuesday?'. Thx to everyone who came out - great time. And also thx to the Crisis Commons folks incl Noel. Andy - Congrats again on Crisis Camp DC and for inviting Jacob Soboroff! He was the ultimate 'surprise guest.' Whew...learned a lot.
