Hello ladies (and gents),
We just wanted to follow up on the class before the meetup today.
Here are some resources for you to look at to move to review material that we covered and move to the next step:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L_hWeUmejjquXZ-Ctolj1aJVnvagVSpkO17sAKYdHo4/edit?usp=sharing
I suggest to review a little bit, but don’t spend a lot of time trying to memorize every detail. Move to figuring out what you would like to do with your new skill. Once you identify a project to move on, ask yourself, “What do I need to build out in order to make this happen?”
Example: I want to grab data from a website and analyzed it on a monthly basis.
You would want to break this down into further components, something like:
1. Commute with the website.
2. Grab the data.
3. Save the data.
4. Analyze the data.
5. Set up on a monthly schedule.
After you do this with your project, focus on one component and figure out what needs to happen to complete that component.
If you are stuck, ask a fellow PyLady to talk through the problem. This is something that happens in professional world of programming, so don’t be afraid of asking someone to listen to your thought process.
Lastly, to answer some questions that come up during the class....
What is my python path? (Or how to troubleshoot an import error.) https://gist.github.com/jackiekazil/6202057
How do I round to 2 decimals? https://gist.github.com/jackiekazil/6201722
We hope to see you at the meetup today!!! Remember the meetup is informal, so you can come at anytime and leave at any time.
