RESTful server options in Scala and (Scala + AngularJS + Lift) => { <3 }

  • Oct 2, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Audax Health

October's meetup will cover RESTful server options in Scala, and AngularJS integration with Lift.  Food and drinks will be provided.

Approximate schedule:

6:30 - doors open
7:00 - General intro
7:05 - RESTful server options in Scala
7:35 - (Scala + AngularJS + Lift) => { <3 }
8:05 - Social hour

Talks

For the first talk, Willie Miller, Software Engineer at Audax Health, will compare Play, Lift, and Spray for creating a simple RESTful HTTP server for your public facing API. Pros and cons of each will be discussed with short code examples in each.  For the second talk, Doug Roper, Software Engineer at Audax Health, will discuss how we introduced AngularJS into our stack, leveraging Lift's ajax immunities to XSRF as an alternative to REST.

Getting here

Audax Health is located in the Georgetown waterfront building:

3000 K St. NW, Sixth Floor
Washington, DC 20007

Metro - We are about a 15 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom metro stop on the Blue and Orange line

Parking - Our building has a parking garage (http://en.parkopedia.com/parking/underground/washington_harbour_center/20007/washington/) The entrance is on the river side of K street (under Whitehurst Freeway), between Thomas Jefferson St. and 30th St. It's a flat $10 after 4PM.

Once you've parked or have arrived at the Washington Harbor complex, our building is the one on the left if you are looking towards the river. The entrance is at street level, to the left of the smaller fountain (if you see Tony & Joes or Sequoia, go up the stairs away from the river and turn right). The doors are locked but we will have someone at the front desk from 6:30 until 8, so just knock.

Here is a link to a map with the parking garage entrance and our building entrance marked:

Please RSVP if you plan on attending. Thanks!

    All here is angular-google-maps the main dev and soon to be master is r1-dev. Consider master deprecated. https://github.com/nlaplante/angular-google-maps/tree/r1-dev

      This is good stuff! I'd definitely consider it for future angular mapping needs.

      Doug I forgot to chime in on a common gotcha that bites people with angularjs. The big gotcha and thing to design against up front is minification.. see here http://branchandbound...

      Nick: Exactly right, and interesting timing! A few of us at Audax are having an internal hackathon this weekend to get grunt + ngmin into our build process so we can DRY up those redundant dependency references.

    Something came up and I won't make it. Will this be recorded, or will the slides be posted somewhere?
