What is an Adventure Park?

In 5 wooded acres is an aerial forest ropes park consisting of platforms installed in trees and connected by various configurations of cable, wood, rope and zip lines to form bridges. Groups of bridges link together to form separate courses.

It is a fun outdoor activity that allows you to enjoy nature, gives you exercise, and challenges you. The courses are designed for everyone to enjoy, and designated as Yellow, Green, Blue, Black and Double Black similar to ski trails. Other than park rules, the only requirement we have is that your harness be properly worn and you are always attached by one of your carabineers to the life lines on and between each platform.

About The Adventure Park

The Adventure Park is fun, exciting and safe for all participants. They provide a harness and equipment and give you a safety briefing that demonstrates how to climb in the park. There are 10 separate courses of varying levels of difficulty. Each course has zip lines but primarily consist of “bridges” between tree platforms made of rope, cable and wood configurations creating over 150 unique challenges. You will develop skills, endurance, and confidence during your time in the Park. Trained Adventure Park staff members monitor the Park and are there to assist if needed.

We had a great time. It's certainly more climbing than zip lining. We will be back for sure...maybe in the Spring though.

I changed my RSVP to No because I wasn't sure what time I was going to get there, but I'm coming. I'm not sure how long you guys are going to stay, so hopefully I'll get to join everyone for at least an hour. This will be my first time at the park and my first meetup with the group.

Supriya, I am in Fair Lakes but will be going to Arlington after the event, so if you want to carpool from the Tysons area that would work for me. Maybe we could combine with Krish and Anna too?

    October 6, 2012

  • Beth P.

LOL No, not there yet.... but it's supposed to rain in York and I just want to verify that the weather is better there :)

I'm driving from Capitol Hill if anyone needs a ride. I've done courses like this a few times but am still in the mid-range (blue courses, maybe try one of the black courses) Is anyone else around that level that would like to partner up?

    October 1, 2012

    • anna

Hi Allie! If I could meet you around the Cap. South area, I'd appreciate it. What time did you want to leave by?

hi Chris, I was wondering if I would also be able to catch a ride. I can meet you at the Glenmont station around 3.20 as well

      October 5, 2012

  • Chris O.

Anna, ok. We will see you there. The weather says 30% chance for Sandy Spring, MD tomorrow. We can fit one more if anyone else needs a ride from Glenmont Metro at 3:20.

    October 5, 2012

  • Yiu L.

Is this still a go if it rains tomorrow?

    October 5, 2012

  • Samir

I will be driving from sterling, Virginia if anyone would like a ride. Cheers.

    October 5, 2012

  • tina

Hi Everybody I just joined the group and I would love to join you this Saturday at Adventure Park. I also, unfortunately, do not have a car so would have to car pull with someone. I will be able to to meet you at metro stop somewhere.

  • Bonita

A few of my coworkers are interested in coming along, are non members allow to attend?

    October 3, 2012

    • Jack

      Yup. The more the merrier.

      October 4, 2012

  • anna

Hello all! This sounds like a great opportunity, but as I don't have a car, I'd need to take advantage of the carpool suggested. I'm coming from Arlington, so I can meet in No.Va or at the Glenmont station, if it's easier. Thanks in advance!

    September 30, 2012

  • Jack

So we're going to meet at the ticketing office at 4PM. Wear something red.

Afterward, you have the option of heading home or joining us at Olney Ale House (2000 Olney Sandy Spring Road, Olney, MD) for Post-Climb pub food (e.g. oatmeal bread, beef stew, fish and chip).

    September 26, 2012

  • Cindy L.

I cant figure out how to pay either

    September 14, 2012

    • Jack

Sorry for the delayed response but no need for advance payment this time.

      September 24, 2012

  • Michelle W.

I'm interested in attending this event! How do I make my payment?

    September 14, 2012

    • Jack

No need for a deposit. Just show up and purchase your own ticket. We'll meet at 4PM outside.

      September 24, 2012

  • Beth P.

    Won't it be dark?

    September 17, 2012

    • Jack

In theory, we should still have enough light at 4PM.

      September 24, 2012

  • Jack

Ok. New plan. We're meeting at Sandy Spring at 4:00PM to take advantage of its $27 dollar special ($29 including tax). No deposits required because advance registrations/collections wouldn't qualify us for any meaningful discounts.

    September 24, 2012

  • Jim

I see that the Deposit Due date is September 1. Is this event all nailed down or is there still room for someone to join? If there is room, what did the total cost turn out to be? And, how do we pay? So, many questions from one late arrival. :-)
