Snickers Gap to Keys Gap, VA
Scenic Hike Near Harper’s Ferry, WV Sunday October 21
Near Harpers Ferry WV on the border of West Virginia and Virginia, this 13.4-mile trip along the Appalachian Trail to Raven Rocks promising breathtaking views of Shenandoah Valley. The hike has a 3173 ft gain and a 3269 ft loss, and is of moderate difficulty. The hike should take 6 to 6.5 hours.
What to Bring:
Plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch
Good hiking shoes
Camera (should be a lot of great views)
Where: Dunn-Loring (Orange) metro parking lot.
Time: 9:15 sharp.
If you can't make it at the meeting place, go ahead and meet us at the entrance of the trail no later than 10:15. (Parking: There's small lot nearby on Pine Grove road. See details at http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewTrip/48307). But it would be preferable if we go as a group so no one gets lost.
In your RSVP please indicate if you need a ride. Also, if you are coming by car to Dunn-Loring, please indicate how many people you can take. We should have enough room for everyone.
From what I can tell there is no park entrance fee.
We should start by 11 and return to the parking lot not much later than 5 pm. For those interested in a quick meal before heading back, we can head over to Magnolia’s at Purcellville or Blue Ridge Grill in Leesburg.
Note: the Army 10-miler will take place Sunday morning. So, please make allowances!
